Pot up plug plants using free-draining compost, and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Grow dicentra plants in well drained, reliably moist, fertile ground in partial or dappled-shade. Dicentra prefers a humus-rich, neutral or alkaline soil. Improve soil conditions by adding plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost prior to planting.
