Are there any clematis varieties that flower in winter?

There are some lovely clematis varieties that will give you winter flowers. Try Clematis ‘Freckles’ for pretty ‘paint-splattered’ flowers, or ‘Jingle Bells’, which has bell-shaped blooms.

Can you grow clematis in shade?

Most clematis prefer their heads in the sun but some will grow in part-shade. Try the pink-flowered ‘Hagley Hybrid’, or ‘Purpurea Plena Elegans’ which has beautiful double flowers.

Which clematis are best for covering a large space?

The montana clematis are some of the best for covering walls and fences. Clematis ‘Wilsonii’ has starry white flowers, ‘Tetrarose’ has scented pink flowers on bronze-tinted leaves, and ‘Fragrant Springs’ has pink flowers with a vanilla scent.
