Bring the elegance of peonies to even the most compact spaces with Peony Dublin. Unlike traditional herbaceous peonies that aren’t suited for container growing, Peony Dublin has been specially bred to flourish in pots, offering a vibrant, abundant display on a much shorter plant. This variety forms compact, bushy mounds of rich, deeply lobed, dark green leaves, and its strong stems eliminate the need for staking. Unlike conventional peonies that tend to let their heavy blooms droop, Peony Dublin holds its flowers upright, creating a stunning display even in low containers. Despite its smaller size, Peony Dublin delivers large, impressive blooms in abundance. The flowers feature single white petals, loosely arranged in a bowl shape, with a central ruff of short, yellow petaloids. These herbaceous peonies are long-lasting, offering captivating late spring to early summer blooms year after year with minimal care. Perfect for both borders and containers, Peony Dublin adds structure, elegance, and vibrant colour to any garden. It also makes a fantastic choice for cutting and creating beautiful floral arrangements. Height: 50cm (20in) Spread: 30cm (12in) Culinary note: Add the petals to salads, lightly cook and sweeten them for a delightful treat, or use them to make peony water—a historical delicacy. The blooms can also be floated in punches for a stunning garnish. Compact variety designed for container growing with single white cup-shaped blooms and a central yellow ruff.

Grow peonies in a sunny or semi shaded position. They prefer a well drained, rich fertile soil. This is best achieved by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or compost to the soil prior to planting, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Plant herbaceous peonies at a depth of around 5cm (2") below the soil surface. Planting too deeply may delay flowering.

These bareroot peonies are lifted from the nursery field when dormant and sent to you in late autumn or spring for planting. They often look dead on arrival, but they are just resting in the dormant period and will establish quickly for a strong start in the garden come spring. Set out in prepared soil in holes wide enough and deep enough to lay out the roots. The crown should be planted no more than 2.5–5cm below the surface. Tread down the planting soil to knock out air pockets. Water well to settle. Apply a mulch to protect roots from cold temperatures. New growth will appear in spring. If conditions prevent immediate planting, set roughly into loose soil or a pot of compost (‘heeling in’) to protect the roots.

Live Plants

Dobies strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.

Non Standard Deliveries

Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland. We are committed to finding a way that we can resume or normal services again as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvience caused.

Prices include VAT where applicable.

We reserve the right to contact you and advise an additional charge where necessary and are happy to quote for carriage of specific products to more remote areas. Some items may not be available to all areas.

We reserve the right to revise any carriage charges in the event of carrier price increase or other unforeseen circumstances. We will always advise of the carriage charge before payment is taken.

All Dobies products should reach you in perfect condition, just as they left us. If you are dissatisfied in any way with their condition on arrival, please let us know within 14 days. We are only liable for the cost of the goods as quoted on the website plus the cost of delivery if the goods are faulty.

Unlike many companies, we publish all of our reviews - good or bad - to give you, the customer, total transparency and peace of mind.
