This mix showcases everything alliums have to offer, from the tall, majestic globes of Allium ‘Purple Sensation’ to the little golden starbursts of Allium moly. Bridging the gap between the end of spring bulbs and the beginning of the main summer display, they add colour, texture and architecture to borders plus a feast of early nectar for pollinators. Easy to grow, once planted they will virtually take care of themselves.

Allium Mix contains the following six varieties:

  • Allium ‘Purple Sensation’ (5 bulbs. Bulb size: 9/10cm) - The architectural blooms of these violet-purple alliums are sure to make a statement in your summer borders. Upright stems carry globes of starry flowers that measure up to 8cm (3”) across. Flowering only once in a season, the blooms of Allium ‘Purple Sensation’ are followed by skeletal seedheads for a spectacular autumn display. Height: 90cm (36"). Spread: 10cm (4").
  • Allium caeruleum (10 bulbs. Bulb size: 4/5cm) - Bright blue globes of starry flowers are carried on stiff upright stems in early summer. Punctuating sunny borders with architecture and a bright splash of colour, Allium caeruleum is easy to grow and makes a great cut flower too! Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 8cm (3").
  • Allium ‘Graceful Beauty’ (10 bulbs. Bulb size: 6/+cm) - Effortlessly tasteful - its large, starry blooms forming spherical flower heads in spring. Each gleaming white flower is blushed with palest pink providing a lovely contrast with its violet stamens. This hardy bulb is best massed together at the front of borders for a dramatic display or packed into patio containers in a prominent position. Height: 30cm (12"). Spread: 10cm (4").
  • Allium ampeloprasum 15 bulbs. Bulb size: 6/+cm) - Globe-shaped heads of tightly packed, very pale mauve, almost white flowers on tall, strong stems that make a great vertical accent in cottage garden borders. Blooming in June and July, Allium ampeloprasum is also great for cut flower gardens and naturalising in meadows. The striking flowerheads are great for drying for an even longer-lasting arrangement! Height: 100cm (39"). Spread: 20cm (8").
  • Allium cowanii (15 bulbs. Bulb size: 4/5cm) - Clusters of pure white, starry, long-lasting flowers that are perfect for cutting. Blooming in May and June, ornamental onion looks lovely planted in drifts at the front of a border or makes a great addition to mixed containers. Bees, butterflies and other pollinators are attracted to the nectar-rich, sweetly scented flowers. Height: 40cm (16"). Spread: 10cm (4").
  • Allium moly (45 bulbs. Bulb size: 3/4cm) - A ray of sunshine! This vigorous and cheerful little allium produces dense clusters of bright yellow, star-shaped flowers from late spring onwards – sure to brighten up any corner of the garden. Loved by butterflies, Allium moly is ideal for the front of borders, rockeries and containers. Height: 15cm (6"). Spread: 5cm (2").
This mix showcases everything alliums have to offer, from the tall, majestic globes of Allium ‘Purple Sensation’ to the little golden starbursts of Allium moly. Alliums thrive in light sandy, well drained soil in full sun. Avoid planting in cold wet soils as the bulbs are prone to rot in these conditions. Plant allium bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4") and a distance of 10cm (4") apart. A slow release fertilizer can be added to poor soils at the time of planting to improve fertility. When growing alliums, plant them where the leaves of other plants will cover the base of their stems. This will hide the old foliage which dies back before flowering begins.

Live Plants

Dobies strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.

Non Standard Deliveries

Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland. We are committed to finding a way that we can resume or normal services again as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvience caused.

Prices include VAT where applicable.

We reserve the right to contact you and advise an additional charge where necessary and are happy to quote for carriage of specific products to more remote areas. Some items may not be available to all areas.

We reserve the right to revise any carriage charges in the event of carrier price increase or other unforeseen circumstances. We will always advise of the carriage charge before payment is taken.

All Dobies products should reach you in perfect condition, just as they left us. If you are dissatisfied in any way with their condition on arrival, please let us know within 14 days. We are only liable for the cost of the goods as quoted on the website plus the cost of delivery if the goods are faulty.

Unlike many companies, we publish all of our reviews - good or bad - to give you, the customer, total transparency and peace of mind.
