Galanthus woronowii, a distinctive snowdrop native to the Caucasus and Turkey, is a standout addition to any late winter or early spring garden. Often referred to as the Giant Snowdrop, this variety is larger and more striking than the native snowdrop, with bold foliage and flowers, yet it remains compact, growing to just 15cm tall. Its broad, glossy leaves are a vibrant green, offering a dramatic contrast to its classic white flowers. Each flower features unique green markings on its inner petals, shaped like a sideways "C" with a flattened top, adding extra charm to this already eye-catching plant. This snowdrop is both easy to grow and distinctive enough to captivate collectors, making it a versatile choice for gardeners of all experience levels. It thrives when planted in small groups, providing much-needed colour and interest in January and February, when few other plants are in bloom. The leaves, which can grow up to 25cm long, stay fresh for some time after the flowers fade, providing excellent ground cover for emerging spring perennials. Ideal for planting in the shade of deciduous trees or in light shade in rock gardens or raised beds, Galanthus woronowii will naturalize over time, forming larger clusters year after year. This variety has earned the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height: 15cm (6in). Spread: 10cm (4in).

A unique snowdrop that is larger than our native snowdrop with broad, glossy, bright green leaves and larger white flowers with distinctive green markings.

Plant snowdrops in the dappled shade of deciduous trees. Snowdrop bulbs thrive in reliably moist, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting to improve less than ideal soils. Plant bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4") and a distance of 10cm (4") apart. For natural looking drifts of snowdrop flowers, gently cast them across the planting area and plant them where they land!

Galanthus woronowii naturally grows in areas with high rainfall but enjoys a very well-drained soil. Grow in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil that does not dry out in summer – avoid sunbaked spots. If growing in troughs, raised beds or rock gardens choose a spot with light shade.

Live Plants

Dobies strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.

Non Standard Deliveries

Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland. We are committed to finding a way that we can resume or normal services again as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvience caused.

Prices include VAT where applicable.

We reserve the right to contact you and advise an additional charge where necessary and are happy to quote for carriage of specific products to more remote areas. Some items may not be available to all areas.

We reserve the right to revise any carriage charges in the event of carrier price increase or other unforeseen circumstances. We will always advise of the carriage charge before payment is taken.

All Dobies products should reach you in perfect condition, just as they left us. If you are dissatisfied in any way with their condition on arrival, please let us know within 14 days. We are only liable for the cost of the goods as quoted on the website plus the cost of delivery if the goods are faulty.

Unlike many companies, we publish all of our reviews - good or bad - to give you, the customer, total transparency and peace of mind.
