Feijoa sellowiana forms a large evergreen shrub clothed in grey-green leaves with dense white felting on the underside. In summer, globular, furry white buds open into puffy dark red petals that are white on the outside. The petals surround a starry burst of dark red filaments carrying yellow anthers. In hot summers, the blooms are followed by delicious green fruit. Scoop out the juicy, sweet pulp to enjoy a medley of tropical fruit flavours and an aromatic bouquet. The crisp, spicy-tasting petals are also edible and can be used in desserts or salads.
This distinctive shrub is guaranteed to attract curiosity. It is suitable for growing in coastal gardens and sheltered spots such as courtyards, urban gardens or against a warm wall. Height and Spread: 1.5-2.5m (4.9ft – 8.2ft).

Plants can also be grown in containers in a greenhouse or polytunnel to maximise the chances of successful fruiting.
