Enjoy a continuous harvest of fresh, tender asparagus from March through July with the Asparagus Continuity Collection. Establishing an asparagus bed requires patience and space, but the long-term rewards are well worth the effort. The Asparagus Continuity Collection offers a perfect starting point, providing a range of varieties to ensure a steady supply of flavourful spears throughout the growing season. From the early-season Gijnlim to the mid-late season Backlim and the late-season Raffaelo, you'll be savoring perfectly tender asparagus for months! The Asparagus Continuity Collection includes the following varieties: Asparagus Gijnlim: A dependable early-season variety that produces vibrant green spears with dark purple tips. As an all-male variety, Gijnlim focuses all its energy on spear production rather than seed, resulting in higher yields than many other types. Height: 150cm (59"). Spread: 45cm (18"). Asparagus Backlim: A vigorous, all-male variety with a mid-late harvest. This variety is favored by commercial growers for its fine, straight spears and firm tips. It’s ideal for producing both green and white asparagus, and it has strong resistance to common issues like hollowness, pink discolouration, and rust. Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 60cm (24"). Asparagus 'Raffaelo': Known for its consistent, high yields even in the late season, Raffaelo produces top-quality spears that are ready for harvest in July. With smooth, straight spears and a large diameter, many of the spears fall within the ideal 20-26mm range. It also boasts excellent resistance to asparagus leaf diseases. Height: 100cm (39"). Spread: 45cm (18"). The Asparagus Continuity Collection is the perfect way to ensure a steady and reliable asparagus harvest all season long! Harvest fresh asparagus from March to July with Asparagus Continuity Collection.

Prepare permanent asparagus beds well in advance of receiving your order so that the crowns can be planted without delay. Choose a sheltered position in full sun. Asparagus beds should be richly fertile and well drained. Remove all weeds, and incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil to improve soil structure and fertility. On cold, wet soils the addition of sharp sand or grit will help to improve drainage.

Dig long trenches, 20cm (10") deep by 30cm (12") wide, and fill the bottom of the trench with 7cm (3") of well rotted manure or garden compost. Mound up soil on top of the manure to form a ridge along the length of the trench and place the asparagus crowns on top of ridge with their roots draped over the edge of the ridge at a distance of 45cm (18") apart. Cover the crowns with 7cm (3") of soil and firm them into their positions.

Live Plants

Dobies strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.

Non Standard Deliveries

Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland. We are committed to finding a way that we can resume or normal services again as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvience caused.

Prices include VAT where applicable.

We reserve the right to contact you and advise an additional charge where necessary and are happy to quote for carriage of specific products to more remote areas. Some items may not be available to all areas.

We reserve the right to revise any carriage charges in the event of carrier price increase or other unforeseen circumstances. We will always advise of the carriage charge before payment is taken.

All Dobies products should reach you in perfect condition, just as they left us. If you are dissatisfied in any way with their condition on arrival, please let us know within 14 days. We are only liable for the cost of the goods as quoted on the website plus the cost of delivery if the goods are faulty.

Unlike many companies, we publish all of our reviews - good or bad - to give you, the customer, total transparency and peace of mind.
